CAN SEA MOSS HELP FIGHT CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)?

It’s a hot topic right now. Many people are very clearly concerned about the spread, and what may help fight Coronavirus (known as COVID-19). I believe that Sea Moss may help with the symptoms of Coronavirus.

I must stress that this is my personal opinion. This is based on the research I have done in relation to the benefits of Irish Sea Moss, and my experience in using Sea Moss to combat flu-like symptoms in the past.

Let me be very clear with this point; I am not a scientist nor a physician. But I have found scientific research which back up my personal experience, and indicates that Sea Moss may prove to be beneficial.

The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The last thing we want to inspire in any situation, especially one like this, is fear of any kind. Our aim here is to inspire hope and encourage critical thinking, and doing your own research. Please keep in mind that the landscape in a situation like this is changing almost daily. For your own benefit, you need to find a source of information that you trust and find to be valid.

If you suspect that this may be something that you have, it is advisable to take appropriate steps, and seek professional advice. We tend to get a lot of comments on some of our posts, and we aim to help where we can.

However, with things of this nature you are much better off seeking timely, professional medical advice that you trust, rather than waiting for a reply to a comment on any given website.

We encourage you to discuss things so everyone can learn from each other, and if you feel that there is something of value that you can share, we warmly welcome your contribution.

With that said, it is important to understand what the symptoms of Coronavirus are currently proving to be based on the research. The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) is currently understood to be a virus that causes infection in your upper respiratory tract (some Specialists believe this may evolve or change as time goes on).

This includes the sinuses, nose, throat, and may exhibit flu-like symptoms. Influenza and Coronavirus are both respiratory tract infections, so it may be difficult to distinguish between the two.

The biggest challenge with Coronavirus is how rapidly it seems to spread from one person to another. Hence the requirement to isolate ourselves from others to prevent spreading the infection.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), symptoms of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) may include:

  • A Dry Cough
  • Fever
  • Tiredness
  • Sore Throat
  • Difficulty Breathing
  • Aches and Pains
  • A Runny Nose
  • Diarrhea, and
  • Nausea

Worst case scenario:

  • Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)
  • Pneumonia
  • Death

How Could Sea Moss Help?

There are health-promoting properties in Sea Moss that support, and even improve, immune function based on the studies completed by Researchers in many countries and different institutions.

Irish Sea Moss contains prebiotics and probiotics that support gut health and stimulation the immune system. The prebiotics feeds the probiotics, which are yeasts and live bacteria in the gut and help increase their population.

Can Sea Moss Help Fight prebiotic probiotic Coronavirus (COVID-19)

When probiotics are happy and healthy, they are better able to support the immune system.

There are over 380 studies that have been published in the US National Library of Medicine about Irish Sea Moss. One article states that Sea Moss provides antiviral activity that inhibits viruses from entering cells.

This scientific report states that Sea Moss contains lectin KAA-2, which has properties that have strong anti-influenza virus activity.

KAA-2 inhibited infection of various influenza strains. These results indicate that this lectin could be useful as a novel antiviral reagent for the prevention of infection.

Given that Coronavirus is reported to be a virus, this presents strong evidence that Irish Sea Moss may help fight Coronavirus.

It is therefore reasonable to interpret the data and hypothesize that in the event that somebody contracted a viral infection, Sea Moss may be able to help. There are other studies published in 2015 which also report that Sea Moss reduced these types of symptoms.

Can Sea Moss Help Fight Coronavirus (COVID-19)?

Look, I’ll be completely honest, I don’t know categorically that it will, or will not. As the world is scrambling for a solution, nobody really knows right now what will. And if they tell you that they do at this time, they’re probably clutching at straws, to put it diplomatically.

But, thankfully, we do have scientific evidence that Sea Moss can, and has for generations, aided the body with the symptoms of various virus with similar characteristics. Can Sea Moss help fight Coronavirus? I believe that it can be used as a preventative measure to improve the immune system, or to help alleviate some of the symptoms if you happen get it. Either way, the results look pretty good to me.
